Murrieta: 30th Annual National Night Out scheduled for August 6

Murrieta, Ca - The Murrieta Police Department would like to extend an open invitation to the citizens of the City of Murrieta to participate in the 30th Annual National Night Out event at Town Square Park in the Murrieta Civic Center (behind City Hall) on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

There is absolutely no charge to attend this event.

This family event is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community relationships, and send a firm message to criminals, letting them know that our community is organized and will FIGHT BACK!
Last year's National Night Out campaign involved local residents, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,704 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37.5 million people participated in National Night Out 2012. Locally, we had several hundred attend last year's event in Murrieta and we anticipate this 30th annual event to be the biggest yet!

In Murrieta, the police department is collaborating directly with our local Target stores in coordinating the event.  Target is a national corporate sponsor and coordinator for the event.  Our two Murrieta Target stores, as well as Temecula Target will be sponsoring a barbeque with FREE hot dogs & drinks.

Target Stores will also have some great giveaways sponsored by local businesses and will be hosting a raffle to include I-pod shuffles, school ready backpacks, and gift certificates for Chick-Fil-A, Maxx Pizza,  and Mulligan's Family Fun Center to name a few.
The Murrieta Police Department will have several static displays and informational booths available for the public, including the department’s SWAT team and equipment, the DUI Trailer, Off-Road Enforcement Motorcycles and the Police/Fire Mobile Command Post vehicle. There will be police K-9 demonstrations as well.
There will be a "kid zone" with children's activities, to include a jolly jump, face painting and an obstacle course.  Other child safety organizations and safety related businesses have committed to attending the event with static displays and FREE safety information.  Child fingerprinting will be conducted by the Temecula Masonic Lodge, and gun safety information will be provided by The Shootist gun store.

Other public safety departments and organizations, including the Murrieta Fire Department, Code Enforcement, U.S Border Patrol, California Highway Patrol (CHP), Mercy Air Ambulance, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Police Volunteer Program, and Safe Alternatives for Everyone (SAFE), will have static displays and personnel on hand to answer questions.

The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and pop-up style shades and picnic in the park.  Again, the event is completely FREE.
