Temecula: Family dispute ends in murder, man arrested

Temecula, California - On Saturday, July 27, 2013, at about 11:02 am, officers assigned to the Southwest
Station responded to the 12000 block of Pechanga Road, in the unincorporated area of Temecula, in reference to a shooting. Deputies arrived within a few minutes and located a deceased male adult who sustained at least one gunshot wound. The property is a large parcel with several houses surrounded by the Pechanga Reservation, but is not associated with the reservation.


The victim was identified as Donald Piper, a 42-year-old resident of the property. Investigators from the Southwest Station and the Riverside Sheriff Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation, Nelson Allen, a 63-year-old resident of the property was arrested for murder. Piper and Allen were brothers-in-law and were engaged in an ongoing family dispute.
