DAT NIGGA GROWS – DIS NIGGA KNOWS

SLOWING DOWN SPEED WEED EVENT FOR A CLOSER PRODUCT LOOK

Temecula, CA – Aside from the crowd demos and party scenes, the upstairs second floor of LA’s High Fi Medical Marijuana Awareness Event featured some very interesting products and vendors. In this story we take a closer and more critical look in revealing the difference between patients through the products reviewed.

This review begins with eating a decorated cookie sample from Kushite Cookies. Totally SB420 compliant/Prop 215 approved, the semi soft cookie, a pot leaf shaped design, was delicious. The flavor was sweet and full, in the way you expect from using cannabis butter rather than store-bought. The icing drizzle was distinctive enough to stand out from the cookie icing, which blended perfectly with the gingerbread consistency of the sample. Packaged, $5 donation for two. The business owner, Raul, is someone who purchased a copy of Memoirs at the Ukraine Center NORML signing. Thanks to changing my diet [see past GMO/class reunion tales here], Raul had to recognize me by voice. For further cookie info 661.436.9543.

With all the racial clamoring about Donald Sterling, the last thing I expected to find walking into the High Fi second floor exhibit was a vendor IYF enough to have a business called #DatNiggaGrows. I had to stop.

Reminiscent of Venice Beach stencil artist Tony B. Conscious [Occupy LA, Life’s A Beach…] in statue, DNG is just as imposing but nowhere near as threatening. Like all the vendors and the 420Nurses assistants, the vibe was a mix of medical exhibit expo/new products expo/art show fundraiser, with a full blown LA event feel at the evening’s zenith, about the time of Pepper.

DNG does indeed grow and I bartered my last book for some of  his tasty Girl Scout Cookies sticky buds. In general it has been my experience that flower obtained at these expos or trade shows runs superior, in general, to the selection offered in the ‘top shelf’ or ‘reserve’ category at clinics. In keeping with the uniqueness of MMJr’s, DNG stands for Dat Nigga Grills too, as medicated hot wings were also available.

[Ed’s note - starting to feel effects of cookie kick in; head stone but not spacey]

Probably one of the coolest vendors was Honey Pot Bear 420 where several 420Nurses tended the booth and enticed attendees to sample the brand’s wares. One I can vouch for is the Honey Pot honey straw which contains a tube filled with a mixture of local organic honey, coconut oil, and cannabis. The coconut hint really adds a lot and brings the sweet factor more in line with a candy. A useful product offered by the same company is their Bear Balm which goes one better than lip balm by being also a topical relief for arthritic joint pain. As can be seen, the 420Nurses served this product promotion well.

As with most of the individual vendors, they were packing like Tony Soprano. Below 420Nurse model Summer Rain uses her nose to sample the Honey Pot stash's bouquet. Looks like it passes muster.

Helping with the promotion sponsorship was LA and OC delivery service, SpeedWeed. The SpeedWeed wristband which was given at the door upon entry also serves as a $20 discount from any product ordered from the express medical delivery service. As per LA, the company name is Madison Avenue catchy and sums the deal up in 25 words or less, as per Hollywood.

Glass pieces and art bongs, flower and dab type, were available from several vendors but Silikaus Glass and their internationally known art glass such as seen here, really caught your eye for design.

The Launch Pad Company had a way to light up your skull that was a bit different.

ROCK nutrients and their table can be seen in this picture at one end of the room. They were cool to talk to.

These and the many other fine merchant vendors made this exhibit a success. For what was happening downstairs at the concert, see Get Outta Your Mind, coming soon.
